Who Are We?
Alex Audio & Video Service, Inc. started in 1978 as a home-based business. Alex and Sara Shmyel, business owners, concentrated on servicing televisions, VCRs, and other major-brand consumer electronics. As the business grew in size, in 1987 they moved to a 1,000 sq ft business location in Golden Valley, MN.
In 1988, the Shmyels added a Swiss-trained technician, Mike Phuong, to their staff. AAVSI quickly outgrew their Golden Valley location and moved into a 3,800 sqft facility in Bloomington, keeping the Golden Valley store as a satellite location.
In the years 1988 through 1990, AAVSI experienced an average annual growth of 200%. Nine additional technician and seven-day work weeks were needed to meet the increased demand for our proven, reliable, and honest services.
Alex Audio & Video Service, Inc. was among the first consumer electronic service businesses to earn a "Master Service Center" designation from major electronics manufacturers, and later earned the "Premier" designation by another large manufacturer.
In the years 1990 through 1991, AAVSI had now been authorized to perform direct repair work on over forty (40) major brands!
Since that time, Alex Audio & Video Service, Inc. has continued to expand their business, now offering a complete line of services on all major brands of VCRs, camcorders, projection televisions, tape decks, CD / DVD Players and stereos, microwaves, computers, and televisions. On-site service or pickup / delivery is available throughout the seven (7) county metropolitan area for most major appliances.
AAVSI also offers special services for retail and wholesale dealers, including large quantity refurbishing; special prices are available. On-site services are available to retail and wholesale dealers as well.
